Here's some more concept art I'm working on for our project Squillamorph. Mainly creature stuff here, I'll either update this post with each new concept or I'll make a part 3 at some point.
Final concept for our shark enemy, a lot of the preliminary designs were already done so this was the quickest to complete. I wanted to emphasize a strong posture here as we felt that our initial design didn't have enough life.
early thumbnail sketches for a test dummy character that the player will learn the fundamental mechanics of the game from. I played with lots of ideas and body shapes until we as a team decided that we liked the idea of a wheel.
Final concept for the test dummy, these concepts represent the dummy in it's docile state and it's weaponized state, each state teaches the player different controls once the player infests them.
rough thumbnails for a flying enemy, we wanted a swarm/insect like creature but I wanted to experiment with some far out concepts here.
Final concept for our Fly enemy. We went through a lot of trouble deciding on a color scheme for these guys but we eventually found one we liked.
Some idea refinement for our gunner enemy, what this enemy was originally was undetermined, but after a bit of discussion, we wanted to play with the dragon boss idea, so these guys are kobolds; serving the dragon.
Here is our final idea with an example of color schemes.
Final design for the Kobold enemy. Since our dragon boss had two guns for arms, we wanted to create a sense of progression from these guys to the dragon, so we made their gun attached to one of their arms and supported by their other.
